活動板房下面共有10厘米厚的地坪，下面是8厘米的混凝土墊層，上面是2厘米的水泥砂漿地，上面固定了6厘米的方形鋼管立柱，立柱相連構成整個屋架，然后把鍍鋅彩鋼板用螺栓固定在屋架上。鍍鋅彩鋼板厚80毫米，兩面是0.4毫米的鍍鋅鋼板，中間是泡沫一樣的聚苯材料，鋼板放水、防火、耐用，聚苯材料隔熱、保暖、輕便。彩鋼板是互相扣在一起的。

每九套板房設計一個取水房和廚房，房子和居民的房子大小一樣，取水房安裝大約15個水龍頭，廚房的灶臺施工時已經砌好，上面能放6、7個灶具，基本可以讓九家同時做飯。施工時地下已經鋪上了直徑200毫米的下水管道，廚房、取水房的下水口都已經連通，整個安置點不會存污水。
Every nine plank houses are designed with a water intake room and kitchen. The house is the same size as the residents' house. About 15 taps are installed in the water intake room. 這種活動板房有很強的抗震能力，使用3-5年后，還可以拆裝再用。目前，我們在安縣的施工點每天都要安裝完成數(shù)百套這樣的活動板房，在震后的廢墟上，這些嶄新的小屋已經成為受災群眾的溫暖新家。
